Connected Community.

Mission and Staff

Our Mission

To maintain a community and arts center to provide classes and programs in the arts and culture that pertain to prominent and relevant community issues and needs of today, making these programs accessible and affordable to underserved and marginalized families and children in the greater LeRoy area. We seek to promote a connected community by providing spaces for people to engage with one another while participating in events and classes in the arts, history, culture, and local area interests, and renting spaces for self-hosted events and classes and private functions.

Our Staff and Board

Led and operated solely by volunteers, we’re a like-minded team from the greater LeRoy area, invested in serving the community by constantly striving to push the envelope in fulfilling the mission of Dewings Center with programs and events of a high standard and caliber. We also hold dear the history of Dewings Center and are passionate about maintaining, preserving and promoting this historic building.

Our leadership is a volunteer board of elected Officers (President, Secretary and Treasurer) and Directors (general voting members). Our board members raise families, work day jobs, run family businesses and fulfill other volunteer staff roles within Dewings Center. For instance, our President also takes care of building maintenance and janitorial duties (yes, that means our President cleans toilets!).

Dewings Center is your local Rental, Event, and Creative Arts & Community Center in LeRoy, offering spaces to rent for private gatherings (parties, churches, meetings, studio & teaching space, etc) and weddings, producing and hosting community events in support of the arts and cultural and social enrichment, and outreaching to the greater local area community.

We are your neighbors, and we hope to see you at one of our community events, or have the honor of renting our spaces to you for your own event or gathering!

Providing accessible and affordable programs and spaces to our community, broadening access to arts and culture and community programs for underserved and marginalized children and families, stimulating and inspiring achievement and life success, and promoting a connected and supportive community
